eye of the beholder

In her eyes, she didn't just see her reflection, she saw a whole world, beginning, middle, and end. A swirl of galaxies that encompassed the planets, stars, and beyond. She saw love greater than she ever imagined and she felt so seen it was if there was a part of her that lived in those green and blue orbits.

She didn't need to speak when it came to looking in those eyes, she felt like invisible strings connected their hearts and minds – you didn't need words when the connection was that strong.

In her eyes there was possibility, the belief that she could do and be anything, and together they could be even more. There was the feeling of being understood, but even more than that, accepted. An unspoken commitment that even through change there would always still be a home within one another. Like the love of a parent but one that was chosen every single day, one you showed up for and opted in for.

When she began to imagine a future, it always existed within those eyes, holding each other's hands and facing the battles that lay ahead, whatever they may be. She didn't have the answers, even though many people assumed she did, but when it came to it, she knew enough – she knew they would always have each other and that in itself was all there was to know.
