time

Time. It is something our world revolves around. We wish for it to speed up, slow down or even stop completely. Time is everything around us, from the battery life on your phone to the minutes till you finish that exam. Time is such a key aspect of human life and we depend on it to complete daily tasks.

The past month, I have found myself becoming more annoyed when I hear people say “I can’t wait till I get to leave school” or “I wish it was the end of the year already". Its weird, I know because as a student you would think my top priority would be getting out of this so called ‘hell hole’. But in reality, I don’t.  Although, I get super stressed with exams and assignments, and school can lead to me having a breakdown at least once a week, I surprisingly would miss it if it was gone. School is the place where I get to see and meet some amazing people and do things that I will never be given the option to do before. I have so much support there and I know once it ends, everything will get a lot harder. There will be no teachers to help me, fitting time in for sports or friends will become harder and choosing something to wear everyday will be a constant challenge (we all know its true). I know this sounds soppy and I haven’t even reached the end of school but for some reason its what I think. I know it is far from what others my age are thinking but I wanted to share my thoughts with you. You are never going to be given the same opportunities in your life, the life ‘you only live once’. I’ll be honest, I have moments which I am a complete downer, I don’t want to do something, I'm too scared or I just can't be bothered. But especially as we are reaching the end of the year, I want to try and change my attitude, even just a little bit. I am not pressuring you too to have these beliefs, rathe than sharing and beginning a discussion. I know I want to learn to embrace the moments we have. Embrace school, embrace friends, embrace family and overall, embrace life. Indeed, once its all over, I can’t go back.

We need to accept that everything has an expiry date, like the milk in your fridge. However, we shouldn’t get caught up in it, rather, embrace it. Eventually time will run out. The year is getting nearer to a close and it is important to reflect on how far you have come, and what you want to achieve. However, before you get caught up in the whirlwind of what will be 2016, I think its still important to embrace these last few months of 2015.
